Frequently Asked Question's

Here are some typical questions(Q) we are asked about our products with our answers(A):

Q What kind of leather is used?
A
Hand selected top quality English full grain cowhide.

Q Can I sit on it?
A
Yes. Inside there is a strong steel and wooden frame surrounded by fine wood-wool stuffing. The frame will support people of normal weight, or you can simply use it to rest your feet on.

Q Why do animals at the same price vary slightly in size from each other?
A
This is because each cowhide we use differs in the amount of stretch it holds; when inserting the stuffing, one piece of leather may stretch more than another hence a fairly plump pig or a much leaner one!

Q  Why is there colour variation between the animals?
A
We use a watersoluble stain which is applied by hand. Each piece of leather reacts differently to the stain resulting in different finishes.

Q Do the animals make good presents?
A
Yes. They are ideal for special occasion presents, and they have particular appeal for men! Children of course love them as do young couples setting up a new home together. The animals become very much a part of a family's history.

Q How long will the animals last?
A
A very long time if looked after carefully. We have had "old boys" of up to 40 years of age come in for some TLC and rejuvenation to face the next generation!

Q How do I keep my animal in good condition?
A
Keep your animal dry and away from direct heat. We recommend an occasional polish with a good, solid wax polish.

Q How long have these leather animals been in production?
A
The company was established in 1927, and the range of leather animals is unique.

Q Do people give the animals names?
A
Yes, most certainly - like any other member of the family! We have Hippolyte, Cornelius, Charlie, Babe the Pig, Crates to name but a few.
